Laleh zar

Laleh-Zar The head has always aroused great interest in me. It is often considered the most sublime and sacred component of the body; in various cultures and religions it represents the seat of man's identity. This work of mine also tries to convey the idea of still life, to deliver these mutilated heads to the realm of the object, abruptly breaking their former role as the most significant part of a man, like the heads seen in Théodore Géricault's paintings. All the heads of the installation derive from a single identity, but in the multiplication this identity is lost, by emphasizing the identical value of each head, just like a commodity, a ball. In addition, the shape of head itself relates to the ball, the uniformity of the balls and their industrial manufacture, recalls the uniformity of the heads, which are both produced in series. The stability and fragility of the heads combine with the dynamism and mobility of the balls
